There are three national multiplexes in the UK. The first is operated by the BBC and its space is unavailable for commercial broadcasters. The BBC broadcast Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, Radio 5 Live, 5Live Sports Extra, 6Music, BBC7, 1Xtra, BBC World Service and the BBC Asian Network.

The second is operated by Digital One (owned by Arqiva). The services currently broadcasting on Digital One are: Absolute Radio, Capital UK, Capital XTRA, CapXTRA Reloaded. Classic FM, Gold UK, Heart Dance, Heart extra, Heart 70s, Heart 80s, Heart 90s, KISS, KISSTORY, LBC, Magic, Radio X, Smooth Extra, talkSPORT and UCB 1

The third national commercial multiplex – Sounddigital – is managed by Arqiva and owned by Arqiva, Bauer and the Wireless Group. The services on the multiplex include: Absolute Rad 80s, Absolute Rad 90s, ForcesRadio BFBS, Fun Kids UK, JACK Radio (UK), Jazz FM, Mellow Magic, Panjab Radio, Planet Rock, PremierChristian, Premier Praise, Scala Radio, Sunrise Radio UK, talkRADIO, talkSPORT 2, UCB 2, Union JACK, Virgin Anthems, Virgin Chilled and Virgin Radio
